An exhibition in CCU Arts & Culture Center
In March 23, 2020, I went to the CCU Arts & Culture Center after I left the English writing class. CCU Arts & Culture Center was below the library. However, it was my first time to visit the exhibition in CCU Arts & Culture Center by myself. I have the impression that I only went to the CCU Arts & Culture Center at the first campus visit. In fact, I had thought that I could visit the exhibition in my free time. Nevertheless, I did not go to the center after I entered campus. Although I had some leisure time, I chose to do other relaxing activities, such as played basketball, saw a movie, or read novels…etc. It was not until today that I had a different feeling. When I entered the center, there were two themes of exhibition. One was telling the real story about a little girl Annie who lived in the WWII. The other one was the history of comfort women.
First, I wandered the previous exhibition. Annie was the little girl who encountered the cruel war. (See Picture 1 to 3) In that period,
they might face the sorrow that their relatives would pass
away at any time. Little Annie could not do anything
except for writing diaries. (See Picture 4) She followed her
parents and neighbors to escape from war. When she had
some leisure time, she wrote the situations on her diaries.
The other story is the history of comfort women.
(See Picture 5) In WWII, due to the rapid development of military, many areas in Asia were invaded by Japan. With the range of the war expanding, Japan’s government enlisted a lot of men to engage in the war. However, they also
deceived some women that there were some high paid jobs in
the battlefield. The aim of the government was to take
advantage of these women to satisfy the sexual need of
those soldiers.
After visiting the whole
exhibition, I had a lot of
thoughts. Among them, I
was impressed by the
cruelty of the war.
Although Annie and comfort women encountered different situations, their hearts were damaged by the war. What they can do is pray the early end of the war. Through visiting the exhibition, I found that our college invested a lot of resources on the arts and culture exhibition, including the decoration, the story, and the decision of theme. These theme is interesting as well as introspective. I consider that I will invite my friends to visit the new exhibition next time.
